Message from the Board Chair

Guy Despatie

I am pleased to have the opportunity to work with our very competent Senior Leadership Team. At present they are        working diligently on our five-year strategic plan. There are very exciting and promising ideas to enhance and                  expand our services at our hospital. Our community is very important to us, and we wish to be able to serve our              area in the best possible way.

Mesage from the CEO

Espanola Regional Hospital and Health Centre (ERHHC) serves a population of approximately 15,000.  Our 79-bed facility boasts a modern state of the art hospital that features a very busy, newly renovated, 24-hour emergency department, 15 bed acute care unit with Hospice Suite, 61 bed long-term care home, and a full range of out-patient services including a medical lab, diagnostic imaging (x-ray and ultrasound), cardiac testing program, and physiotherapy.  Our campus also hosts a 30-unit Seniors Apartment Building and a 19-unit Seniors Assisted Living Complex, as well as offering Primary Care through our Family Health Team (FHT) staffed by 5 physicians and a team of allied health professionals. Through our FHT we have a Palliative Care Program that serves our catchment area and host an on-site pharmacy, a 6-bed sleep lab, multiple specialist clinics, and have onsite partnerships with Ontario Health at Home, NoojmowenTeg, and Behavioural Supports Ontario.

Espanola Regional Hospital and Health Centre is often referred to as a model health campus. Organizations such as the Ontario Hospital Association, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC), Ontario Health and other well-respected healthcare organizations, believe that our health campus is a great example of how healthcare facilities and communities can integrate and coordinate health services all within shared walls. We continue to expand and collaborate across our health campus and with our community health and social service agencies to provide seamless care to those we serve.

Across our integrated health campus, we are staffed by a team of dedicated and talented individuals who have many years’ experience, and more importantly, render care with our “Patient’s First” Philosophy. We are committed to a culture of excellence, learning and one of continuous quality improvement, and to our vision of Caring for the Health of our Community.

Espanola Regional Hospital and Health Centre (ERHHC) has undergone extensive redevelopment over the past decade to expand our footprint, as well as our level of service. We employ over 300 people and are the Hub of Care in our community.  Programs continue to expand across our Hospital, Family Health Team, and Long-term Care Home to support a care from birth, to end of life. Through the work of our dedicated team and Board of Directors, the care, and services we provided have received Exemplary Status by Accreditation Canada.

As a small rural northern health care provider, we will continue critical advocacy work to improve access to care across our health campus.  Bringing “Care Closer to Home” through system planning and attention to continuous quality improvement is essential to serving our community. Our future is focused on opportunities to enhance and expand the scope of services we offer patients and, in our mission, to be your partners for better health and wellness.
