Spokesperson Terri Noble says a lot of people do not realize that some lab services are not supported by provincial funding and the hospital itself pays for those services out of their yearly budgets.
She emphasizes if the hospital did not do so, people in the area would have no choice but to travel to Sudbury or other health centres for getting tests done.
To that end, she says, the new campaign will look to raise$90,000 for funding new equipment and supports for the lab.
Noble says they are in the planning process of putting together various fundraising events to help raise the money, including the 2022 December Radiothon with The Moose 99.3 FM.
Anyone wishing to donate in memory of a loved one to or support the campaign can contact Noble directly at the foundation office, via phone or by email.
Noble can be contacted directly at the foundation office, located in the lobby of the hospital or call 705-869-1420, ask for the Foundation Office or via email at tnoble@esphosp.on.ca .
